Formed and cast vessels are subject to further treatment, e.g. cups and broth cups obtain hand-stuck handles, all the vessels are smoothed and cleaned. After a gentle drying off, porcelain is put into a kiln for the first heating, so-called biscuit heating. A hard but still quite fragile main body of vessels is formed at a temperature of 950C approximately.
Then, all the elements are soaked in molten glaze and heated again at a temperature of 1400C approximately. After this process, we obtain white and really hard, glistening porcelain, which now can be sold.
A part of a range is subject to decorations. Modern vessels are decorated almost solely with decal printed with ceramic paints. Gold and platinum or colored lines and completions e.g. on handles are exceptions These elements are hand-made. After putting a decal and painting the vessels, they are heated once again at a temperature of 850C or 1250C.
Then we receive respectively, glaze decorations, definitely perceptible or inglaze decorations, entirely set into transparent glaze. The last one are perfectly protected. They can be used in dishwashers and microwaves.
Gold- ceramic platinum (12-24 carat ) are included in the decorations with gold and platinum elements. They are heated at temperatures not higher than 850C and cannot be usually applied in dishwashers and can never be used in microwaves.
Most of Villa Italia decorations with gold and platinum can be used safely in dishwashers (but not in microwaves), only when used with gentle household detergents and mild dish-wash programmes.
Villa Italia decorations consist of gold and platinum of the highest order, they are additionally covered with protective flux which makes them protected against being worn away in dishwashers.
